I am writing to recognize Mr. E. Mark Harris as an outstanding Realtor. Our story is a unique one and it put a huge twist on what might be considered the normal house purchase process.
My wife and I are expatriate Canadians living and working in Shanghai, China. We decided last summer, while visiting our daughter in Guelph, to purchase a home in the area and decided that the K-W area would be best. Mark was referred to us by our cousin and with only two days to go before we had to fly back, Mark met with us to view a couple of houses that we thought might fit our particular needs. In this case, we wanted a full walk-out basement under an executive quality home that would be rented as a revenue property. The basement suite was to be retained for our own use whenever we flew home.
Mark was gracious throughout and patiently explained why both houses were not a good fit. He emphasized that 'fit' was everything and that he would continue to look at listings for us after we returned to China. I won’t belabor the story but he found the perfect house and we proceeded with the purchase. This is where the mess began because the banks had great difficulty dealing with us as we have been overseas now since 1997 and as far as the credit bureau was concerned, we did not exist.
Mark was exceptionally patient. He helped with mortgage brokers, he found us a great lawyer, arranged home inspections, found an insurer and quite simply was on 24-7 call for about a month as a seemingly easy purchase was prolonged unreasonably.
I can’t say enough about his level of service and his character. I would be very happy to refer him to anyone looking for a home and will call upon his services again in the future. This letter cannot do justice to how much time and effort he put into the purchase of our home but if ever an agent earned his commission, it was Mark.
I have no idea whether you have a formal recognition system but if you do, I gladly put our names below to nominate Mark for such recognition.
With best regards and appreciation,
David and Wendy Harris
[Letter addressed to Mr. Patton, President of the Board of Directors, Kitchener - Waterloo Association of REALTORS®]
Dear Ms. Feick:
I wish to recognize and congratulate one of the area real estate agents for the exceptional effort extended on my recent home purchase.
I purchased a home several weeks ago, using the services of Mr. Mark Harris of Peak Realty. Being a first-time home buyer, I was completely at a loss as to where to begin, and what the process entailed. Mark was incredibly patient and helpful, providing me with general information on the purchase of a home, then more detailed advice on specific properties and areas. Throughout it all he catered to my needs, demonstrating an innate sense of when I required more time, or when I could use his input and assistance, yet never making me feel pressured to make decisions.
Having heard many tales of overly-aggressive real estate agents, I was prepared for the worst, and instead I got the best! Mark's knowledge, attitude, approace and exceptional service has earned him a loyal customer. He has gain my trust, respect and friendship.
Should the Real Estate Board have any type of formal recognition for exceptional agents, I would like to nominate Mark for any such award. He has most certainly earned it! You should be proud to have him as a representative in the community.
